Blag Blog?

Hmmm. After much scrutiny of my previous blogging efforts, I have decided to dedicate this blog to those certain individuals – and you know who you are!! Perhaps I have been a bit sterile in my writings; however, one must consider that everyone gets to read this.

So what have I been doing? Well I have been preserving what little mosaic floor we have left! For the past week I have been carefully cleaning around each little mosaic tile, mixing a special mortar and securing those little tiles with the mortar mix. Tedious – that’s the only word for it. I am getting quite antsy. This weekend I have thought, on more than one occasion, about going for a run and here it’s almost 90 degrees Fahrenheit everyday. I’ll swim instead.

Others have had much more exciting weeks, like Glenn for example. Thursday Glenn found two more skulls in the cist tomb! Talk about interesting. Man, I need to work on getting promoted.

Two more weeks to go. I knew this would happen. The first day we arrived here I thought, “This is one of those things in life were at the beginning you think it will go on forever, yet when the end draws near you feel like you’ve just started.” And so it is.

Caption Queen?

Tonight this blog is serving as a productive procrastination device from my futile attempts to come up with a caption for todays picture of the day.

Today we reopened the second tomb discovered last season. Lots of diggers looked on as Dr. Schuler carefully removed the stones covering the tomb.

After breakfast Dr. Schuler and I were talking and he made a valuable point . . . with so many exciting events and discoveries, it is easy to forget about the small, yet spectacular things.

It's the small things.

Like the fact I'm in Israel.

I don't want to forget about all the small things.

Time, time ticking . . . ticking . . . ticking away

"Time, time ticking . . . ticking . . . ticking away." A "classic" song and a reminder. 32 days until the dig begins. I am thrilled. I'm excited to be learning about Israel, specifically Hippos. I'm excited to be on the hunt for work pants, BOOTS, gloves and dusk masks. I'm excited to be sitting here, typing away at my desk. But mostly I'm excited to meet with all of you!! Talk to you soon. PS: Can anybody "name that tune?"
